1st Annual "Feed Your Feet" Fun Run was Great FUN!

Despite cold and wet conditions, the sun was shining at ArDA’s first annual “Feed Your Feet” 1 mile/5k Fun Run on Saturday, March 8th. Approximately 60 people braved the cold weather and either ran or walked the course. Many Fun Run Committee members, RDs, dietetic interns and members of the Little Rock Roadrunners Club worked together to ensure the success of the many details involved in planning such an activity. With some icing on the Big Dam Bridge, Mary Wells and other members of the Little Rock Roadrunners Club re-routed the course to avoid icy conditions. To add a bit of humor, Pool Boy from the Heather and DC show on Alice 107.7 radio station ran the one mile event dressed in a banana suit.
	Final announcements are made about the course
Out of 15 central Arkansas schools represented, Crystal Hill Elementary Magnet School, North Little Rock, won top prize of a $200 gift certificate for the most students and parents in attendance. Three other schools had runners who placed second and tied for third place – Henrietta Abernathy School, Forest Park School and Jim Stone Elementary of Conway.

After the run, everyone enjoyed healthy beverages and snacks at the Health Fair provided by our sponsors. With the help of the publicity committee, information on this activity as well as National Nutrition Month and RD day was widely disseminated. Proceeds from this event go toward the cash awards for the Arkansas Action For Healthy Kids essay contest. This has been a great way to promote nutrition in our local community and next year will be warmer and even more fun!
